"Sadly, racial segregation in our community remains an issue. We continue to reach out to people of color, but I'm afraid it will take a long time to overcome the divisiveness of the past that is inherent in our culture." -Chuck Bowen
Racial segregation essentially, is people who isolate a race as a whole from everyone else. During the 1960's blacks were hated just because of their color. Whites were considered superior. There were seperate schools, drinking fountains, ect. Many refused to let blacks in their restaurants. JFK believed in unifying our country and although it took a long time it eventually happened to an extent. Unfortunately, there is still a lot of racism in our country today. We need to look beyond color and realize we are all just people. Race should not matter.
